Inspired by a poem written by Mary Oliver, this painting captures vibrant poppies stretching their long stems to the sky, the setting sun illuminating their vivid petals, whilst the last rays of the day cast golden light across the landscape.

The poppies send up their
orange flares; swaying
in the wind…
for a while,
the roughage
shines like a miracle
as it floats above everything
with its yellow hair.
Mary Oliver
